Residents at
St James Park care home spent an afternoon listening to didgeridoo music and painting in the true Aboriginal style of cultural art.
As the wind instrumental music played, Barry, Caryn, Joan, Alan, Gwen, Marjorie and Evelyn, who are all Residents at the 31-bed residential and nursing care home, tested their creativeness and used bright colours to make some beautiful pieces of artwork. There were dot designs as well as pretty flowers and unique shapes.
Evelyn said she found the painting with bright colours and lots of dots very relaxing and was very pleased with the result.
Mihaela Barbulescu, Home Manager, said, “Connection to culture is very important, integrating Aboriginal culture into general care in residential aged care facilities can have many positive outcomes for Residents and it is always great to learn about something new too! Well done to all Residents for their hard work.”
