Vera Scrimgeour, Deputy Home Manager at HC-One’s Balcarres care home in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, a 35-bed residential and residential dementia care home, has been shortlisted for The Frontline Leaders Award at the Great British Care Awards 2022. The home itself has also been shortlisted for The Care Home Service of the Year Award Category at the Scottish Care Home Awards 2022 and The Care Team Award at the Great British Care Awards 2022.
The nomination for the awards is in recognition of Colleagues and their hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion the team shows every day to ensure the people they support receive the best quality care.
The team at the home are dedicated to delivering the kindest possible care, and work together to enhance the quality of life of Residents who choose to live at Balcarres. Colleagues say that they feel very supported and are provided with many opportunities for training sessions, and encouraged to progress in their careers.
Vera, who has been the Deputy Home Manager at Balcarres for many years, has provided her Colleagues with fantastic support, guidance and leadership. Fellow Colleagues state that she cares for her whole team and inspires them by showing integrity in her daily work ethic.

The Scottish Care Home Awards consist of 13 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The award ceremony of the Scottish Care Home Awards 2022, takes place at the Hilton, Glasgow on Friday 18th November 2022 when the winners will be announced.
The Great British Care Awards consist of 21 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of distinction across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The award ceremony of the Great British Care Awards 2022, Regional Awards for the Scottish region takes place at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, in Newcastle on Thursday 10th November 2022 when the winners will be announced. Successful winners at the Scottish regional awards will progress to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023 taking place on Friday 17th March 2023 at the ICC in Birmingham.
