Bulwell care home enhancing resident wellbeing after scenic River Trent cruiseResidents at HC-One’s Fairway View Care Home, in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, enjoyed the perfect way to stay cool this summer after an engaging and therapeutic outing aboard the Princess river cruise along the scenic River Trent.

The trip featured a delicious roast lunch, dessert, and a glass of wine, creating a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere during last week’s heatwave. The cruise along the River Trent provided social interaction and mental stimulation for residents, as the Fairway View care team encouraged connection with nature and reminiscence therapy.

Heidi Duffy, HC-One’s Fairway View Lifestyle Manager, helped organise the trip to ensure that residents enjoyed a safe, social, and memorable time on the water. Adding a touch of humour to the day, 102-year-old resident Hilda Anthony playfully “pinched” a pint from a Fairway View colleague for a quick sip.

Resident Hilda Anthony said:
“It’s been a lovely day and that was a nice pint!”

91-year-old resident Barbara Brokes shared how the trip sparked nostalgic feelings for her and others.

Resident Barbara Brokes said:
“It’s been a wonderful day spent with lovely people. It brought back memories of when my husband and I bought our first flat near the river.”

The outing reflects Fairway View’s person-centred approach to care, which integrates social, emotional, and nutritional wellbeing into daily life. At Fairway View, HC-One delivers all-inclusive, person-centred care with no hidden fees, ensuring residents can live their best lives in a relaxing environment.

The home’s engaging activities programme, such as the recent River  Trent cruise event, brings residents together for memorable experiences, whether it’s enjoying scenic views or revisiting cherished memories through nostalgic film screenings.
