National Fish and Chip Day is usually celebrated on the first Friday of June, but with this year being the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the day was moved forward a week and Residents at HC-One’s
Pennwood Lodge residential, nursing and dementia care home, in Wotton-under-Edge, tucked into a delicious meal together to mark the occasion on 27th May.
Chef Carl organised for some fantastic ‘fakeaway’ boxes for Residents, which consisted of the much-loved dish of fish, scampi, battered chicken and several different types of chips ranging from fries, sweet potato chips, wedges, and vegetable chips. This was all served up with mushy peas and a range of different sauces including curry sauce.
Residents were surprised at having a takeaway box given to them with a selection of food inside an everyone enjoyed the experience, with some having seconds.
Graham Porter, David Padfield, Ange Ashby and Carson Emerson, who all live at the home, said how nice it was to have a takeaway and really enjoyed the meal.
Julie, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “I enjoyed seeing the look on the Residents’ faces as they were given the takeaway box , it was great to watch them tucking in and enjoying the meal.”
