Celebrations for Group B Gardening Competition winnersThis month at Stoneyford in Nottinghamshire, which provides residential and residential dementia care, Colleagues and Residents were delighted to find out the gardening competition results.

There were a couple of different categories and awards given out in the 2021 Gardening Competition this year, one of these categories was “Best Outdoor Visiting Area”. Stoneyford have picked up this award for their outstanding effort in remodelling and designing their outside space.

Wellbeing Coordinators Jayne and Lynsey led this year’s efforts whilst being assisted by Residents Celia, Joyce and Nina. Other Residents also got involved and gave them some suggestions in what they could do. One idea was to have a memorial tree and mural dedicated to those lost through Covid. This area has provided a lovely space for Relatives and friends to enjoy visits in the safest way.

The judges commended Nina’s efforts in the Residents Green Fingers Award category and the winner’s plaque will take pride of place in the summerhouse.

This competition and especially being announced as a winner has really lifted everyone in the home and has been a lovely project to work on. One Resident went on to say “wow, I can’t believe we won”, and others who had worked on the garden said they liked getting the recognition for their hard work.

Keely, the Home Manager said, “It continues to be challenging times for all, but this competition really lifted everyone’s mood. Well done team Stoneyford!”
