Sheila Cork, a Resident at HC-One’s Needham Court care home in Jarrow celebrated her 106th birthday on Thursday 20th May.
Born during the First World War, Sheila was one of nine children and grew up to be an office worker. She married her husband Norman in 1942 and the couple had one daughter, Jennifer.
In her younger days, Sheila was a keen traveller who visited destinations around the globe including South Africa, India and China. Sheila attributes laughter to being her secret to living such a long and happy life.
In March, Sheila became one of the oldest members of the local community to receive the coronavirus vaccine, she encourages others to get their vaccinations.
To celebrate her special day, Sheila received lots of special cards and gifts, including a card from Her Majesty The Queen.
Needham Court Home Manager, Joann Mills said: “Sheila is full of life and happiness, she is a real inspiration to us all.”
