As part of their broad wellbeing programme,
Charters Court care home, based in East Grinstead, which offers residential, nursing and residential dementia care, are hosting regular coffee mornings complete with quizzes and entertainment.
The Residents were recently treated to an excellent performance by talented harpist Margaret Watson, who has come back for the second time to play a variety of tunes for everyone at Charters Court.
Margaret catered to everyone’s requests, playing the likes of Doris Day and the Everly Brothers. Margaret even spent time explaining the harp to the Residents, showing them how it worked and how it was played which they found really interesting.
The Residents commented on Margaret’s return to Charters Courts, saying: “It is great to have her back again so that we can enjoy her wonderful music. We are delighted to have her back, the music she plays is so beautiful.”
Zulmer Hayman from the wellbeing team at Charters Court said: “We are trying to bring in activities that keep the Residents stimulated and happy. Listening to music is great for everyone, and in particular it was great to hear that Margaret enjoys playing for our lovely residents.”
There was lots of audience participation throughout the performance, including singing and clapping along to the well-known tunes.
The Residents were familiar with all of the music, and had a great time engaging over coffee and such a fantastic musical instrument.
