Residents at Chaseview care home, in Burntwood, have enjoyed making their own Christmas candy canes to go around the home for the festive season.
Wendy, Wellbeing Coordinator, explained, “We used all upcycled materials, such as unused cardboard, tin foil, ribbons and tinsel to create the candy canes.”
Residents, including Edith, Janet, Judy, Kath, Margaret, Myron and Sylvia, enjoyed getting creative by designing the candy cane themselves and chatting to the other Residents as well as singing Christmas songs.
“Beautiful candy canes! Simple to make but very effective,” one of the Residents remarked.
Wendy was pleased with the outcome overall; seeing Residents engaging with the activity and each other.
Wendy added, “It was nice to see Residents engaged with this activity, including new Residents who are enjoying getting creative as well as meeting other Residents in the process. Whilst we got our Christmas crafting on, we had to have some of the great Christmas classics playing in the background. We know this year is going to be strange but we are making the most of it here!”
