Christmas fun at St Clares Court care homeChristmas celebrations are in full swing at St Clares Court care home in Newton Aycliffe, as Residents and Colleagues enjoy lots of festive fun.

Colleagues Joelle Hubery, Jill Addison, Katie Heslop, Caitlin Hayes, Sarah Todd and Philip Clark helped to organise a fantastic Christmas Fayre on the 10th of December.

14 local small business owners came along to the 58-bed residential and residential dementia care home. It was an amazing turn out with more than 50 plus people from the local community in attendance.

Resident Millie Jackson was manning St Clares stall and she sold every last item.

Another big Highlight was the scavenger hunt to find Santa’s Grotto and the amazing Santa Clause played by Relative Philip Clark.

Joelle and Katie were planning for 3 months prior to the event booking stalls in from the local community, organising and wrapping gifts from Santa and the whole team helped with setting up tables and Santa’s Grotto on the day.

A grand total of £400 was raised for the Residents fund from the tombola, raffle and Millie’s stall.

It was such a great day, Relative, Michelle Scollen, said, “Just want to say a big well done to you all for organising the Christmas Fayre. It was the nicest we have been to this year. All you hard efforts were worth it.”

Lily Richardson, a Resident at St Clares Court, remarked, “It went very well, you all did a brilliant job.”

The on the 12th of December, a fantastic donation was made to the home from a local gentleman.

Brian Nichol is a photographer in the town and donates his time regularly to come along and take pictures for the Residents. All he asks is for a donation of the printed photos, as he donates this money to a local charity.

Brain contacted the home and asked if he could donate money to the Residents fund and everyone was thrilled. Brian came along to the home to give the donation personally and it was lovely!

Resident, Sheila Wright, said, “it’s wonderful that Brian thought of us Residents here at St Clares Court.”

Katie Heslop, Resident Liaison Officer, added, “This is such an amazing gesture, this means so much to us all at St Clares Court.”

Sarah Todd, Care Home Manager, commented, “I just want to say such a huge thank you to Brian for this amazing donation, this is going to help give our Residents such a wonderful Christmas!”
