Three members of staff at HC-One’s
Greenways Court care home in Consett, County Durham, a 51-bed residential and residential dementia care home, have been shortlisted for two Great British Care Awards and one Leaders in Care Award.
Kinga Kowaliczek, Home Manager, is a finalist in the Registered Manager of the Year (North) Award Category at the Leaders in Care Awards. Kinga has progressed from being a Carer, to Deputy Home Manager to her current position as Home Manager in October 2020 at Greenways Court Care Home. In her role as Home Manager, Kinga is essentially ‘everything to everyone’ - a regulatory and compliance manager for the organisation who manages the service to deliver good commercial outcomes, a role model and leader for the team, and a listening ear and friend for the Residents and their loved ones.
Michelle Bull, Deputy Home Manager at Greenways Court has been shortlisted for The Front Line Leader Award. Michelle has worked in care for over 20 years and is very passionate about her job. Michelle has shown many times her kind and caring nature by going above and beyond for the Residents. Regardless of Michelle’s very busy schedule she always finds time to spend with Residents, getting to know their needs and preferences. Michelle really deserves this recognition because of her knowledge and effort she puts into her job every day.
Tracy Graham, Wellbeing Coordinator at Greenways Court has been shortlisted for The Care Home Activity Organiser Award. Activities at Greenways Court go way, way beyond just bingo! They are fun, they are person centred, they are meaningful and that is all thanks to Tracy. Her passion for wellbeing and quality of life has been shown in many ways: ranging from regularly implementing new innovative activities for the residents at Greenways Court, ensuring every single Resident is living a good life
The nomination for the awards is in recognition of their hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion they show every day to ensure the people they supports receive the best quality care.
Quality of Life Specialist, Lawra Baumane, who nominated Tracey for the award, said:

Home Manager, Kinga Kowaliczek, who nominated Michelle for the award, said:
“Regardless of Michelle’s very busy schedule she always finds time to spend with Residents, getting to know their needs and preferences.
Michelle strives to provide the best possible care for each and every resident at Greenways Court.”
Kinga added,

The Great British Care Awards consist of 21 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of distinction across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The award ceremony of the Great British Care Awards 2022, Regional Awards for the North East region takes place at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, in Newcastle on Thursday 10th November 2022 when the winners will be announced. Successful winners at the North East regional awards will progress to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023 taking place on Friday 17th March 2023 at the ICC in Birmingham.
The Winners of the 2022 Leaders in Care Awards will be announced at an exclusive awards ceremony and dinner at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Tuesday 11 October.
In total 20 HC-One Colleagues have been shortlisted for the Great British Care Awards in the North East, and 5 have been shortlisted for the Leaders in Care Awards.
