Dumbarton care home host their very own Highland GamesAt HC-One’s Castle View care home in Dumbarton, have recently held their yearly Highland Games in Scotland’s bonny Loch Lomond.

The nursing and nursing dementia care home are huge fans of the Highland Games and were extremely excited to host their own event for Residents, Relatives and the local community.

The event involved lots of interactive games which included toss the caper and tug of war!

Staff wore kilts to the event and their was a very special visit from two bag pipers who spent the whole day entertaining the crowd with lots of traditional Scottish music.

A huge selection of food was on offer which included haggis, neeps and tatties, and many enjoyed a wee Scottish dram!
Relatives and members of the local community got involved in supporting the day and one even took to the stage to show of her talent in highland dancing.

It was a fantastic day all round and staff are now planning to get the event organised for next year too.

One Resident, commented, “I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I haven’t laughed so much or had that much fun in a long time. It was so nice to see staff wearing their kilts. Its these little touches that make things special.”

Kirsty Miller, Care Home Manager, remarked, “I was amazed by this event. It was a fantastic day organised by Residents and wellbeing staff. I was humbled to see staff coming in to support on their day off and even wearing kilts to support the event. It was lovely to see the local community and families getting involved too.”
