HC-One’s Balcarres in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, are celebrating success after Residents and Relatives voted them as one of the Top 20 recommended care homes in Scotland in the carehome.co.uk awards 2022. This marks Balcarres’ eighth year in the prestigious top 20 group and ranking in fourth place this year.
Carehome.co.uk, the UK's leading care home directory and comparison website, holds its annual Care Home Awards to recognise the 20 top-rated care homes in each region of the UK. These are based on individual review scores that carehome.co.uk have received from Residents, and their friends, family and loved ones, demonstrating real life opinions and first-hand experiences from those most closely connected to the home.
Balcarres received an overall rating of 10/10 based on independent reviews, in recognition of the high standards of care provided at the home – which provides residential and residential dementia services for the local community. The 35-bed care home received a ‘Very Good’ CI report in January 2022 in all categories, demonstrating that the home is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
Balcarres has benefitted from an exciting £260,000 refurbishment and upgrade resulting from a major investment programme. Balcarres Care Home is one of 221 HC-One care homes across the UK that has benefitted from a £54.5m investment refurbishment programme, and forms part of HC-One’s mission to be the UK’s first choice care provider in the communities it serves. The refurbishment and upgrade work included full decoration in the main lounge and dining room, with lighting upgrades in both and new kitchen units installed in the dining room. En-suite bedrooms also received upgrade to their facilities which included new step in showers.

My mother-in-law came to Balcarres almost a year ago. She is extremely happy and well cared for. Couldn't ask for a better home for her to be in. She loves the food, and all her needs are met.
