Eastbourne House start a carpet boules league
At Eastbourne House, residential and residential dementia care home, in Whitley Bay, Residents have started a Carpet Boules League within the home!

It’s great to see so many of the Colleagues and Residents getting involved with the league. The competition is fierce, but everyone is very supportive of another, and it’s presented the opportunity for Residents from various floors to ‘break the ice’ and interact.

The games normally consist of 10 – 20 Residents and the home have had to order more sets of boules as so many are now wanting to be involved.

The league standings are posted on our daily newsletter and on the activity boards and posters for all to see. It’s great to see Residents and Relatives stop by the boards to look at where they feature in the league.

Resident, Ian Thorpe, remarked, “Its such a good idea, I hope we continue with the games.”

Debbie White, Care Home Manager, added, “The competition is fierce but it’s great to see the residents active and supporting each other. We will be keeping this going and playing a full season.”
