Bernice, a Colleague at HC-One’s April Park Care Home, has been praised recently for assisting a member of the public who was in difficulty this week.
After Bernice had finished her twelve hour shift recently at the home, she came across a local gentleman laying in the road after he had fallen from his motor scooter. Her first aid training kicked in as she stopped to assist him, noticing he was bleeding and applied the necessary pressure to help.
Bernice remained with the gentleman until the ambulance arrived, keeping him as calm and reassured as possible.
Fellow Colleagues at the home praised Bernice’s quick thinking and gifted her with a bouquet of flowers and certificate.
Alison Cossey, Home Manager, commented: “We are all extremely proud of Bernice, she stayed with the member of the public for at least two hours and offered first aid all while helping the gentleman remain calm.”
Located in the popular town of Eckington on the Derbyshire and Yorkshire border, April Park is a lovely home with 40 beds and offers residential care.
