Flower arranging at Barleystone Court care homeResidents at Barleystone Court, nursing care and nursing memory care home, in Falkirk, thought the lounge areas in the home needed to be brightened up since the Christmas decorations have been taken down.

Flower arrange was a activity which Residents thought would be fun. Residents Chris, Gina, Ena, Nancy and Trudy, were keen to chose flowers and begin to decorate the lounges.

Staff members bought some beautiful pink roses in different shades, and some gypsophillia. The Residents worked their magic creating some excellent arrangements which were displayed around the home.

Everyone was commenting on how lovely they looked and the beautiful scents which reminded them of spring and being in a rose garden. Flower arranging is such a simple but rewarding task
as it has a wonderful effect on the Residents wellbeing.

It was great to see everyone involved working together, taking some flowers from the supermarket, and turning them into floral displays.

Pamela Cummings, Care Home Manager, remarked, “The flowers have certainly brightened up the lounge after Christmas and it was great to see the Residents arranging them.”
