Fun in the sun at Brookdale ViewSome of the Residents at Newton Heath’s Brookdale View residential and nursing care home, had not been properly outside in the sunshine for over a year! So as soon as the weather permitted it, they were outside in a flash!

Residents from both our nursing and residential floors, including Diane Cannon, Patrick Loran, Peter Burnet, Peter Conner and Paul Keating, slapped on the sun cream, grabbed their sun hats and headed for the garden.

Then there was the option to play some giant garden games including mega Connect Four and huge soft foam dominoes, as well as boogying along to some 50s and 60s records, while sipping on ice-cold drinks.

Everyone particularly enjoyed the colourful sun hats, and the little bit of healthy competition. One Resident remarked, “I used to love playing dominoes in the pub.”

Julie Robinson, Care Home Manager, commented, “We are very lucky here at Brookdale View, as we have front row seats to the locals bowling club next door, so Residents have been chatting to the locals across the fences and getting engrossed in a new-found sport!”

“It’s so nice to see the Residents out in the garden enjoying themselves. This is fab, exactly what we need, a little bit of fun in the sunshine.”
