A new place for relaxation has officially opened to Residents at HC-One’s
Gittisham Hill House care home, in Honiton, Devon, as people gathered in the garden to unveil a beautiful new water feature.
Residents at the 38-bed residential, nursing and dementia care home have been watching closely the daily progress of a new water feature while out on their usual daily walk, and on Friday 2nd September, they didn’t have to wait any longer.
The cement had dried, the beautiful plants dug in and the water flowed beautifully trickling down in the morning sunshine. Residents Tony, Gloria, Barbara and Home Manager, Julia sat quietly together, collecting their thoughts in the garden and reminiscing by sharing memories together.
One of the Residents said, “It’s so relaxing to hear the water flow and the smells bring back wonderful memories!”
Everyone particularly enjoyed guessing the different herbs and plant smells in the fresh air.
Another Resident added, “I am lucky I have some lovely memories and now I can share them with my friends.”
Julia Heneker, Home Manager, commented, “It is definitely the most favourite part of my job, the water feature is a really important feature at Gittisham Hill as everybody needs a happy!”
