Sensory sessions have been held at HC-One’s
Brooklands residential, nursing and memory care home, in Lincolnshire, which have been very well received by Residents.
Colleagues have been working on new sensory sessions for Residents and today Nigel Millard, who lives at the home and is registered as blind, took part. While making sure Nigel was comfortable, Colleagues introduced the sensory box to him.
Latricia Dickson and Lisa Mowlem, who both work at the home, sat, speaking softly to Nigel while using some different textures in the sensory box to allow him to touch.
As part of the sessions, that take place in the garden room, the interactive tablet is often used to present different sounds to Residents too; and there were lots of smiles and laughter.
After the session, Colleagues assisted Nigel out into the garden with a nice cup of tea to enjoy!
Latricia, pictured, commented, “Nigel likes quietness but for other Residents, we often put their favourite music on in the background. It was a lovely, calming session and Nigel liked the touch of the different textures we presented.”
