Hand painted flags fly for Sandon House ResidentsThree Residents at HC-One’s Sandon House care home, in Mossley, which offers residential and residential dementia care, were invited to take part in a community project to fly flags of hope.

Residents Madge, Eva and Christine (all pictured) joined in with a workshop run by Mossley Vale. The idea of the workshop is to connect with members of the community and gather stories, ideas, and images around the theme of ‘hope’.

Mossley Vale then took the stories to their in-house artists and translated them into six-metre-tall hand painted silk flags, expressing the experience of the Residents who've possibly been isolated through the pandemic, as well as many other people. They wanted to demonstrate to care home Residents, Colleagues, and older members of the community that they have not been forgotten, and that their voices and creativity still matter.

Christine commented, " I really enjoyed talking about my childhood. It brought back many memories."
