Handprint crafts at Summerhill care homeResidents at Summerhill, nursing, residential and memory care home, in Kendal, have recently been crafting.

Last year the home received a booklet full of handprints from Heron Hill Primary School, the handprints were decorated and had what the children would like to be when they grew up.

The booklet was a great way to reminisce with Residents and it is a lovely icebreaker for students and new starters to get the conversation flowing.

As a home, it was decided, the Residents would show how much they appreciate the book by sending their own back to the school.

The book contains the Residents handprints, they have been decorated and annotated with the previous jobs the Residents have had, staff also designed their own prints for the book too.

One Resident, said, “I didn’t even know what a youtuber was until now.”

Kathleen Dean, Care Home Manager, commented, “We hope our little booklet sparks as many amazing conversations for them as it did for us.”
