Harvest Festival comes to care home in Wotton-under-EdgeResidents and Colleagues at HC-One’s Pennwood Lodge care home, in Kingswood, celebrated Harvest Festival together this October with volunteers from St Mary’s church.

A service was held at the home and the Harvest story acted out by volunteers from the church.

Colleagues displayed a fantastic amount of fresh produce on the Harvest table and the room was decorated to reflect Harvest Festival itself, including lots of bright colours and flowers.

After the service, Residents and the church volunteers sat together and enjoyed some banana cake, tea and coffee, and chatted about their Harvest memories.

Shelia, who is a Resident at the 45-bed residential, nursing and dementia care home, remarked, “What a lovely afternoon and it was good to see all the produce and the smell of the freshly baked bread.”

The ladies from the church commented on what a lovely display of Harvest goods the home had organised, and that the smell of the fresh bread was amazing.

Anne, from St Mary’s Church, said, “It’s always lovely to come to Pennwood as its very homely and always made (to feel) welcome.”
