Honiton Residents put a spin on Bonfire NightAt Gittisham Hill House residential, nursing and dementia care home, in Devon, a bonfire and fireworks afternoon has been enjoyed by all.

The home’s Residents and carers joined and have a lovely time making pretend fireworks and small bonfires from cardboard, small pieces of wood and brightly coloured tissue paper. Battery powered tea lights were added to make the flames.

Jill Watts, Wellbeing Coordinator, made a cake in the shape of a bonfire, consisting of chocolate fingers for the wood and dyed coconut for the grass.

Everyone enjoyed a piece of cake with a cup of tea and pulled crackers to mimic the loud bang of a firework.

Barbara Harrap, who lives at the home, commented, “I love my firework!”

Emma Monahan, Carer, remarked, “Everyone is back together enjoying themselves, smiling and laughing!”

Ruth Paton, Administrator, added, “It was lovely to see all the Residents joining in.”
