Jarrow care home Residents donate to local food bankResidents and Colleagues at Needham Court, residential and residential dementia care home in Jarrow have recently been helping out a local food bank. 

It was decided by the Residents to ask Colleagues and Relatives to ask for donations of food for the local community food bank located in Hebburn called, Hebburn Helps.

Margaret P, a Resident living at Needham Court, said, “This is such a fantastic idea to help out the community.”

As a home everyone came together and donated food, even Residents family helped which was fantastic, three sacks of food were collected.

On the 2nd of December it was arranged for the minibus to come and take and the Wellbeing Coordinator, Deputy Manager and five Residents to the food bank to donate all the items.

Hebburn Helps were overjoyed with the donation. Staff from Hebburn Helps chatted with the Residents and took photos.

As a home it felt like everyone had made a difference to the local community.

Joann Mills, Care Home Manager, remarked, “What an amazing idea and its great how something so small can make a real difference to the local community.”
