Keepsake keyrings for Prescot care home ResidentsAt Fazakerley House residential care home, on Merseyside, Colleagues have asked Residents what they thought about making a gift for their families, something that they could keep and cherish, and the activity started from there.

Residents couldn’t wait to get involved in the activity, and after discussion, decided to do a keyring for their families with their thumbprint in it accompanied with a small verse (see pictured).

Residents put their thumb onto the inkpad and pressed it onto paper, this was then carefully cut out and placed into the keyring holder. A small verse was also attached by laminating the verse and attaching it to the keyring ready to give as a gift to Residents’ families.

Whilst immersed in the activity, everyone had refreshments and biscuits.

One of the Residents commented, “What a lovely idea something so simple but heartfelt. My daughter will cherish this.”

Jane Furlong, Care Home Manager, commented, “What can be more personal than your mum or dads fingerprint to keep. After a tough 18 months due to Covid, what a lovely way to share something so personal both to the Resident and to the families.”

“All our Residents will be taking part in this activity and it is still ongoing as not all have done it yet but are looking forward to joining in.”
