The year 9 pupils of Lavington School, a secondary school situated in the neighbouring district of West Lavington, created some lovely ‘Kindness Cards’ for the Residents of HC-One’s Market Lavington care home, and everyone at the home was very touched by this thoughtful gesture.
Residents at the 80-bed residential, nursing and nursing dementia care home, were delivered some delightful cards this August from students at the local school, all containing such lovely, positive and life-affirming messages!
Everyone had joy reading the messages and admiring the designs.
Stanley Thompson, who lives at Market Lavington, said, “The messages were lovely! I wish I had the opportunity to do this when I was a child. It’s cheered me up.”
Fellow Resident Gwendoline Bullock added, “They are wonderful, and you know I enjoy writing, so I will work on a reply for them.”
Over the coming days, Residents will be sending replies back to the school and all involved feel this could be another wonderful opportunity for that generational gap to be bridged and meaningful relationships forged between the generations
Ms Diane Bray, Year 9 Teacher at Lavington School, said,
“We had our PSHE core elements to complete so we did this during a collapsed timetable day. The elements we needed to cover were diversity, appreciating differences, charity and community, so we did a rotation of events which included creating kindness cards for people within our local community. They (the pupils) had a fabulous day. Thank you for allowing us to send the cards!’
Riaz Ali, Wellbeing Coordinator at Market Lavington, said,
“Thank you to Diane Bray for organising this and a big thank you to all the year 9 pupils who took part. Your thoughtfulness, consideration and kindness has made a big impact on the Residents!”
