Kings Park care home invite local mayor to open new enhanced residential dementia community at openKings Park care home in Hurst Cross, Ashton-under-Lyne, was visited on Thursday 20th April by the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Michael Glove, who cut the ribbon at the home’s open day and officially opened the new Enhanced residential dementia community.

The new enhanced residential dementia community, called ‘Blossom Community’ offers a supportive environment for people living with the early stages of dementia or mild cognitive impairment, with an emphasis on maintaining their independence and quality of life. Having recently being refurbished, the care home decided to officially launch the new service at the open day.

At the carnival themed open day, visitors had the opportunity to listen to live music, have their face painted, take part in the raffle and even do some balloon modelling. There was a circus skills workshop, prizes and lots of games, including ‘hook-a-duck’, which was very popular with families.

Lisa Joy, Home Manager at Kings Park Care Home, commented:
“We were delighted to welcome Civic Mayor of Tameside, Michael Glover and Mayoress Anne Gordon to our home for the open day, as we opened our new Blossom community. Everyone had a great time, chatting and talking about our wonderful care home and the things we do every day to help people in our community.”
