Leeds Residents brighten up their front doorThis week at residential and residential dementia care home Rievaulx House in Armley, Residents have been assisting Wellbeing Coordinator with brightening up their front doors.

Shelley, Wellbeing Coordinator at Rievaulx House has been supporting the Residents in changing the name plates on their doors to something more eye catching. The hope is that these designs would become more familiar with the Residents with dementia.
The doors have been orientated to the personal tastes of the Residents and overall 20 have been changed with many of them saying how happy it made them to see the new improved door signs.

Two other rooms which were very neutral coloured were chosen added a feature design to create colour and focus, with the hope this will aid with brain stimulation and also encourage conversations.

One Resident who often tends to keep quiet did say that, “I do quite like it” and another Resident who enjoys boxing saw his new name plate which featured some boxing gloves began to name off some of his favourite and legendary boxers.

Samantha, the Home Manager commented, “its lovely to see such colour on the doors, the Residents really responded to the new designs”.
