HC-One’s Alexander Care Home in Lewisham, London, was filled with music, laughter, and celebration on Monday, May 19, 2025, as residents, colleagues, and family members came together to mark the 85th birthday of a much-loved resident, Dennis Young.
Originally from Jamaica, Dennis has been part of HC-One’s Alexander Care Home community since 2020. He is well known for his distinctive presence and deep baritone voice, which can often be heard ringing through the halls during events and celebrations.
A proud member of the Windrush generation, Dennis arrived in England in 1961 and built a life with his beloved family. Dennis was presented with a birthday cake as everyone joined in a heartfelt rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.
True to his musical spirit, Dennis beamed with joy, and the room was filled with warmth and applause as he enjoyed his special moment.
Anthony Warner, HC-One’s Alexander Care Home Manager, said:
“We all had an amazing time. Dennis really enjoyed the singing and the delicious birthday cake. We’re sure it’s a celebration he won’t soon forget.
“Family, friends, and fellow residents celebrated together, reflecting the strong sense of community and care that defines life at the home.
“As Dennis enters this new chapter, the team at Alexander Care Home looks forward to celebrating many more milestones with him in the years to come.”
