Live music activities for Devizes ResidentsOne of the most popular activities at Market Lavington care home, in Devizes, Wiltshire, is live music and singing, which takes place regularly as part of the extensive wellbeing and activities programme.

With the support of Wellbeing Coordinator, Riaz Ali, Residents chose some of their favourite classics, with Riaz playing the tunes on his guitar while everyone sings along.

The Residents love being able to express themselves through music and choosing different musical instruments for themselves to play along.

Colleagues and other Residents join in with the fun throughout the activity, showing off their singing skills and supporting Residents with reading from the song books.

After the activity, tea and cake is handed round, with the Residents discussing music tastes, famous people they have met and songs that have a special meaning to them.

Phyllis Dunn, who lives at the 80-bed residential, nursing and dementia care home, said, “It was so good; I might have to come back next time for a tune!”

Fellow Resident Dennis Scurrell said, “I’ve met Johnny cash before, he has the deepest voice I’ve ever heard!”

Everyone is looking forward to the next session.
