Liverpool care home mark Remembrance DayThe wellbeing team and Residents at Mersey Parks care home, marked Remembrance Day this year by organising a week long of activities and events for everyone to get involved with.

Throughout the week, the wellbeing team which consists of Karen, Mattie and Mia, made poppies with Residents on all four units of the home as well as some remembrance crosses and poppy wreathes in a build up to their ‘Lest we forget – memorial remembrance’.

Residents spoke of stories and past experiences of wartime; some write down their memories for Colleagues to discuss.

Residents on Springfield, Stanley, Sefton and Princes units were all asked if they wanted to attend the memorial service. Each Resident was given a ticket to attend and Colleagues set up a theatre style event which included a thoroughly thought out programme; a written play by the wellbeing team, two minutes silence, a 40-minute-long play with ice-cream and jam donuts at the interval, poppies to be worn, flag waving as they all sang the iconic ‘Until We Meet Again’, stories and lots of songs.

Home Manager, Karen McGrady, remarked, “The day was very well put together and received from Residents. It was a moving service which brought a mixture of emotions to everyone.”
