Residents at
Ailsa Craig, nursing and nursing dementia care home in Cessnock, Glasgow, enjoyed a lovely visit from local primary school on World Book Day.
In the lead up to Global Intergeneration Week, Ailsa Craig care home, had a visit from class 7 at the Ibrox Primary School.
The children came along to visit the Residents and to read to them their favourite stories, a few came along dressed up too!
There was a good selection of stories for our Residents to enjoy listening too, from Harry Potter to Guinness World Records.
The pupils from the school really enjoyed reading and listening to one of Ailsa Craig’s Residents that had written her own book all about her life before she had dementia, called While I Remember.
Mary, one of the Residents, said, “Its nice that the school children come to visit as I used to work in a children’s care home, and I used to encourage reading.”
A great afternoon was had by everyone, and the Residents look forward to the school’s next visit.
Lynsey Armstrong, Care Home Manager, added, “It is nice to see the interaction between the Residents and the children. Everyone had such a lovely afternoon.”
