Longport care home Resident grows tomatoesA Resident at HC-One’s Brindley Court care home, in Stoke-On-Trent, has been getting stuck into gardening and in particular, growing tomatoes.

John Whieldon (pictured) came up with the idea to plant tomato seeds.

All the other Residents joined in as an activity in planting the tomato seeds. John looked after and nurtured the plants and once the harvest was ready, he handed out all the ripe tomatoes to the other Residents so they could all enjoy the fruits of their labour.

John said, “It is great to see the tomatoes grow from the seeds.”

Other Residents agreed that the tomatoes tasted great.

Benedicta Delos Santos, Home Manager, remarked, “Residents enjoy gardening, so this was nice to grown some tomatoes too. The Residents were so happy to receive a tomato that they had a part in helping to come to fruition.”

John is looking forward to the next harvest of tomatoes.
