Mitcham care home hold awards ceremonyAfter the roller-coaster of a year everyone has had, the wellbeing team decided to put on a little awards ceremony for the Residents at Fieldway care home, in Surrey, raise spirits.

The ceremony was kept a secret from the Residents to make it even more special. As the residents returned into the lounge after lunch they took a seat and listened to some music that they love, and together everyone had a little sing-song. Then, Colleagues announced that they had some certificates to hand out for the little things they have noticed over the year that they think needs to be commended for.

One by one, each Resident that was present in the lounge was brought to the front and praised for their achievements. All the Residents applauded each other and had lots of smiles and laughter. The Residents were very appreciative of this.

Fieldway care home also tied the awards ceremony in with, their Deputy Manager, Alex, who had recently won one of the 12 days of Christmas prizes for the annual HC-One competition and winning an extra day of annual leave. Alex said she had never won anything before in her life so to win this it was amazing.

Kitchen Colleagues had made up a trolley of snacks and drinks for Residents to enjoy after the ceremony. It was a lovely afternoon of reminiscing, congratulating and sharing special moments with the little Fieldway family.

Kathryn, Senior Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “It was a lovely afternoon to forget the chaos going on around us and focus on the good things that have happened this year. It was also a joy to see the Residents faces and smiles.”

“Residents loved being congratulated for some talents they didn't even know they had until we done so. They were so proud and happy.”

Lindsay, a Resident at Fieldway, remarked, “This is a lovely idea, thank you to you loving and caring staff for putting smiles on our faces.”

Joseph, another Resident, said, “What a tasty little spread to eat and a bit of pop too! What a treat.”

Home Manager, Dahlia Clarke, remarked, “It was very heart-warming to see the happiness on faces, especially when presenting Alex, the Deputy Manager, her certificate.”
