Mossley care home Residents toast to the new KingProsecco and Bucks Fizz were sipped on Friday after a toast to celebrate the new monarch at HC-One’s Sandon House care home, in Mossley, Tameside.

6th May was a historical event at Sandon as Residents, Colleagues and Relatives marked the Coronation of King Charles in style.

Firstly, Residents at the home tuned into watching the event on the television in the lounge, with the home being decorated with red, white and blue traditional Union Jack flags, balloons and bunting.

Everyone said they were nice and relaxed whilst they sipped on Bucks Fizz or prosecco as the day unfolded.

For lunch, a beautiful buffet was prepared by the home’s wonderful kitchen team, which was was set out in the lounge for everyone to enjoy. Some Residents even went up for a second plate of food, it was simply delicious! There were lots of comments on the day about how wonderful the food looked.

Later on, potato pie was served for the evening meal, which also went down a treat!

Marjorie, who lives at Sandon House, said, “The food is fantastic! Better than any restaurant!”

Fellow Resident Joan commented on the Colleagues effort in making the day so special, “Everyone has worked so hard.”

The wellbeing team at the 42-bed residential and residential dementia care home said that a good day was had by all, and it was a great way to mark such a historical event.
