New friends at Gittisham Hill House care homeSome of the Residents at Gittisham Hill House, a 38-bed residential, nursing and dementia care home, take a daily walk around the grounds of the home, which is located in a private, age-exclusive, independent village in Honiton, Devon. And they have been welcoming new Residents to their routine recently.

Colleagues take pride in welcoming new Residents into the home and finding out how that person chooses to live their life and supporting the development of new friendships along the way. They find that a relaxing stroll in the glorious countryside helps everyone and encourages reminiscence and a shared interest to develop.

Those involved in these walks thoroughly enjoy the conversation and relaxing in the home’s beautiful surroundings.

One of the Residents said, “Good for the soul this is!”

Another Resident commented, “I feel lucky to be living here!”

Julia Heneker, Home Manager, commented, “Wherever possible I choose to leave my PC and join my lovely Residents in the sunshine! I feel very lucky and revitalised after seeing how these friendships are developing.”

“I feel so pleased to be part of such a fabulous team in such a wonderful location.”
