Newton Heath Residents take a step back in time at Manchester MuseumA group of Residents from HC-One’s Averill House care home, in Newton Heath, had a great trip out on 26th April as they embarked on a trip through the ages at Manchester Museum.

Residents Maureen Davis, Efronsini Malone and Carol Morris were accompanied by Colleagues on their trip out, where they discovered artifacts including a mummy exhibition and Jurassic skeletons. They also visited the frogs and live animals on display in the museum. Everyone was thrilled to see the live frogs, which were displaying some spectacular shades of orange, neon green and yellow. This was a great conversation point with Residents admiring the beautiful colours.

Some highlights of the day were the exhibitions, particularly when everyone met Stan the T-rex who was displayed using replica bones in one of the rooms. They couldn’t believe the size of the dinosaur. The group also had the opportunity to touch relics from ancient Egypt, from columns to hieroglyphics.

Residents from the 48-bed dementia care home agreed that it was so informative, and they really enjoyed the day out, stating there was so much to see and interactive with.

Maureen remarked, “This really was amazing, we have seen mummies, dinosaurs and animals! Best trip ever!”

Jodie Yates, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “It was such a great day, the trip was so interactive, our Residents could touch and feel things and there was so much to see and do. It was a great outing and one that we are hoping to do again.”
