Northamptonshire Residents create beautiful flower arrangements from donated flowersThe Residents at Acacia Lodge in Nottingham, which provides residential, nursing and dementia care, were recently donated some flowers from NANNA’s animal shelter.

The staff and Residents decided to make a fun afternoon out of arranging the flowers so that they could be displayed around the home.

In total, 3 Residents and 2 staff members took part in the flower arranging, with staff providing demonstrations and top tips on how best to prepare flowers for display.

Elemay, one of the staff members who helped the Residents arrange the flowers said: “It was a lovely activity for us and the residents. They really enjoyed getting stuck in and making the arrangements look beautiful, and it was great that we could enjoy the vases of flowers around the home for days afterwards.”

She continued: “I love it when we get creative and are able to do something a bit different, especially when it’s the result of such a thoughtful gift from a local charity.”

The Residents commented on the choice of flowers that they had to work with, and said that they looked gorgeous and really brightened up their home.

Bheki, the Home Manager said: “We are so grateful to NANNA’s shelter for their lovely donation to us, and I know that the residents who took part really enjoyed being creative with the flowers and getting to see their handiwork around home.

“They created some really beautiful vases and they smell great too.”
