October news from Mossdale ResidenceAt Burnholme’s Mossdale Residence, which offers residential, nursing and dementia care, everyone has been preparing for Harvest Festival and getting involved in lots of different and exciting activities.

For Harvest Festival, Colleagues bought lots of different fruits and vegetables and asked Resident how many they knew. These were then chopped up all for a tasting activity and were then made into a soup with the vegetables.

There was also another activity going on which included harvesting some lavender and making lavender bags

Mrs Cooper, June, Julia, Enid, Nicky, Audrey, John, Anne, and Mavis, who all took part, loved tasting all the different fruits and comments could be heard such as, “I really like some of the fruit, I haven’t seen that before!”

Also, recently Zoolab, who are a local company, visited the home and brought some exotic animals for everyone to have a look.

Zoolab came to Mossdale with a selection of exotic animals; there was a millipede, a tree frog, a tarantula, a cockroach, a tortoise, a chinchilla and a snake.

Residents, including Allan, Anne, Denise, Enid, June, Julia, Audrey, Mrs Cooper and Stewart, held them, asked questions and thought it was a very interesting day.

Michelle Pepworth, Care Home Manager, said, “I can’t believe how brave the Residents were for holding the snake! It was so interesting finding out about all the different animals.”
