Resident finds voice again at Jesmond care homeIt was a special day at HC-One’s Fleming Court care home in Jesmond as Residents and team members celebrated Mothering Sunday together and Merle rediscovered her love of singing.

During the Mother’s Day celebrations, one Resident, Merle White regained her confidence to sing for everyone once again. Merle has always had a passion for singing and has performed at many social clubs and family occasions over the years and even recorded her own album.

Back in 2019 Merle also took part in the home’s version of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ where she sang her own version ‘The Boots Are Made For Walking’ and came second in the whole competition.

After a difficult year everyone was overjoyed to see Merle singing once again, Residents all had a lovely day celebrating Mothering Sunday as a community.

Fleming Court Resident, Joan Brownlow commented: “Such a beautiful lady who has overcame a lot in her life and is still going.”

Fleming Court Home Manager, Jackie Lothian said: “It is heart-warming to see Merle regaining her confidence and rediscovering her passion in life.”
