Resident learns letter writing the modern way at Kesteven GrangeJoan a Resident at Kesteven Grange in Hull which offers residential and residential memory care, for those living with dementia, takes on the challenge in typing a letter to her friend.

Kellie Moore, Care Home Manager received a letter from one of the Resident’s friends saying she had not heard from Joan in a long time.

Joan told staff that she now finds it difficult to write due to her arthritis and had not responded to her friend’s last letter which was at the beginning of the year.

During a flash meeting this was discussed and the idea of typing a letter was suggested.

Joan who is willing to give most things a go despite her ailments, took on the challenge and managed to type the first paragraph of her letter with some support from Zoey the Wellbeing Coordinator.

The letter has now been responded to and Joan is looking forward to hearing from her friend again very soon!
Joan was so pleased to be able to speak to her friend again and remarked, “I can’t wait to try it out again!”

Kellie commented, “Encouraging other Residents to do letter writing will be incorporated in the wellbeing planner”.
