Local Residents from Douglas View, based in Hamilton, had a lovely day out to The Seagull Trust in Kirkintilloch for a trip on a barge.
The Seagull Trust is a charity which provides canal cruises for people with mobility issues, special needs and the elderly.
Residents from Douglas View had a brilliant time on the cruise where they were provided tea and coffee as well as a fish and chip dinner, all from the serene setting of the canal boat.
The scenery along the canal was lovely and provided a refreshing change to all of the Residents who went on the cruise.
One Resident, Kathleen said: “The day on the boat has been one of the best days of my life! I am going to write down everything that we did so that I can remember all of this brilliant day.”
Whilst the scenery and experience of being on a boat were very much enjoyed by all, the Residents said that the best part of the trip was the peacefulness and tranquillity of being out on the water.
One Colleague remarked, “It has been a great opportunity for our Residents to spend a day out of the care home and on the water. It’s a lovely experience that we wouldn’t otherwise be able to achieve without The Seagull Trust.
“Enabling our Residents to get out and about is really enriching and gives them lovely experiences to talk about.”
