Colleagues and Residents at Roxburgh House care home, in Cradley Heath, West Midlands, recently enjoyed all things Scottish as they celebrated Burns Night.
The kitchen team whipped up some themed food for Residents at the 42-bed residential and residential dementia care home to enjoy. This included ‘Haggis and Tatties’ followed by the traditional Scottish dessert of Cranachan. Later in the day there was homemade shortbread and Dundee cake served, accompanied by a wee dram of whiskey.
Irene Prosser, who lives at Roxburgh House, said, “I have never had Cranachan before.”
Residents reminisced about their trips to Scotland in the past and talked about Robert Burns while listening to Scottish themed music. All chatted about traditional Scottish food, and many commented on the delightful sweet-treats and smoky whiskey.
One of the Residents said, “The haggis was something I’d never tried, but it was very nice, and I am glad I tried it.”
