Residents at Wigan’s
Rosebridge Court care home, which offers nursing dementia care, attended a cooking activity with Colleagues and what a success it was!
On the home’s Allendale Unit, Residents pitched ideas together and chose a meal they would all like to eat, corned beef hash with pickled red cabbage and crusty bread.
Then a couple of Residents and Colleagues went to the local supermarket to buy the ingredients and other Residents helped to prepare the meal.
Staff supervised the preparation, cooking and serving of the meal. Everyone seemed to enjoy the meal with many commented on how delicious and filling it was. Most Residents had a second helping and all agreed they ate a tasty meal!
There was also lots left for all staff to eat too, and more compliments were given to the cooks.
One of the Residents said, “When can we cook this again?”
Sarah Cunliffe, Home Administrator, commented, “The Residents were proud they had cooked the meal themselves and enjoyed receiving compliments from their peers.”
