Residents at
Aberford Hall care home, in Roundhay, Leeds have been getting up to lots of activities in September.
On the 23rd September some very exciting visitors flew into the home. The Residents really enjoyed a visit from the Wise
Owls, a company who home and rescue birds of prey. They have been to the home previously and the Residents loved it.
The Residents were excited and got to hold lots of different types of birds. They especially loved seeing all the little, baby birds. They were able to hold and interact with the birds.
The highlight of the visit for the Residents was when the birds flew towards them and ate chicken out of their hands.
Resident, Fred, commented, “Such magnificent animals.” Then Resident, Cecile, said, “What gorgeous colours the birds have.”
It was fantastic and the Residents really enjoyed themselves.
Then on the 29th September, some of the Residents enjoyed a lovely trip out on the minibus to Golden Acre Park.
Residents, Naomi, Lynne, Tim, Jean, Julie, Jewel, Fred and Janet, were happy to have a little trip out to the local park.
They enjoyed having a little stroll around and feeding the ducks. There were some huge swans swimming in the lake.
There were lots of laughing and singing from both the Residents and staff. The highlight was a lovely lunch and cup of tea out in the autumnal sunshine.
Beverley Deplacido, Care Home Manager, remarked, “The Residents have been enjoying lots of activities lately and having lots of fun. The Wise Owls visit was excellent!”
