September news from Newlands care homeIt’s been another busy week at HC-One’s Newlands residential and nursing care home, in Stockport, with many activities keeping Residents and Colleagues busy; including soap making and painting spiders for Halloween.

But first to mention is one of the Residents’ new doll. Brenda, pictured right, happily received a new doll which she requested. Colleagues including Kelly, Pat and Rachel, sourced the comforter which Brenda is over the moon with, saying, “Love my baby.”

In preparation for Halloween, today Residents, including Mo, Marg and Val, started on the decorations by painting spiders. They are planning on having a party on the day and lots more decoration making leading up to the event.

In particular, everyone enjoyed putting the googly eyes on the spiders, one even has 15 of them!

Yesterday, some of the Residents also took part in soap making where they learned how to make their own soap by melting soap mix, adding a colour/scent and then letting it harden.

Residents made one each and them some which will be set aside for a Christmas fayre. One of the residents commented, “We love picking the colours and checking out the scents.”

Home Manager, Amcia Hara, commented, “Everyone has really enjoyed making the soap – and they smell so nice too!”
