Sir George Howarth MP for Knowsley visits Fazakerley House care homeHC-One’s Fazakerley House care home, in Prescot was visited on Friday 8th December by Sir George Howarth MP for Knowsley, in the lead up to the festive season.

Residents and colleagues of the HC-One owned home enjoyed meeting Sir George Howarth MP for Knowsley and chatting to him about what life is like at Fazakerley House– which is an integral part of the local community.

Sir George spent time chatting to residents, including Jenny Grayson, aged 69, who was delighted when he asked if he could have a photograph with her. Jenny has been supported to sing to other residents in the home and is often seen on Karaoke. Sir George Howarth said that he had heard all about her singing. Jenny told Sir George that it had been her lifelong ambition to sing on karaoke.

Jenny remarked:
“I feel like my dreams have come true and want to thank the staff at Fazakerley House for giving me the confidence to do it.”

Colleagues and Sir George Howarth also talked about staffing within health and social care and discussed the need of placements in Knowsley for residents living with dementia or who have nursing needs.

There was also much time spent with Home Manager Jane Furlong, discussing the extensive training HC-One colleagues have in dementia and have now introduced dementia coaches in care homes to enable colleagues to have more insight and knowledge.

Fazakerley House plan to have supportive meetings for relatives and families of those living with dementia. Sir George Howarth agreed that it was a great idea to involve families.

Jane Furlong, Home Manager at Fazakerley House Care Home, commented:
“We were delighted to welcome Sir George Howarth MP for Knowsley to our home to see first-hand how we support residents to lead their best lives and meet our residents and dedicated colleagues.
