Sunderland Care Assistant shortlisted for The Care Home Worker Award at the Great British Care AwardMichael Fawcett, Care Assistant, at HC-One’s Ashton Grange care home in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear a 39-bed residential and residential dementia care home, has been shortlisted for The Care Home Worker Award Category at the Great British Care Awards 2022 for the North East region. 

The nomination for the award is in recognition of his hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion Michael shows every day to ensure the people he supports receive the best quality care.

Michael is a Care Assistant at Ashton Grange who is adored by Residents for his big personality and even bigger heart. Michael plays an active role in helping the wellbeing team to run activities and drives the minibus to go on trips. If there’s a way Michael can help then he will! He is a fundamental part to life at Ashton Grange and there is a large hole whenever he’s not there.

Home Manager, Lesley Dawson, who nominated Michael for the award, said:
“Michael is a committed member of the team and strives every day supporting residents, colleagues and families. Michael goes the extra mile ensuring residents wellbeing is at the heart of everything he does. Michael is a hardworking and contentious individual.” 

The Great British Care Awards consist of 21 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of distinction across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The award ceremony of the Great British Care Awards 2022, Regional Awards for the North East region takes place at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, in Newcastle on Thursday 10th November 2022 when the winners will be announced. Successful winners at the North East regional awards will progress to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023 taking place on Friday 17th March 2023 at the ICC in Birmingham.

In total 20 HC-One Colleagues have been shortlisted for the Great British Care Awards in the North East.
