Leo the sausage dog visits Surrey care homeResidents were in for a furry surprise today when Leo the daschund came to visit them at HC One’s Fieldway care home in Mitcham.

Being around a dog can make a massive difference in mood so Colleagues jumped at the opportunity to introduce Leo to the Residents in a socially distanced visit.

Everyone was thrilled to see him and enjoyed seeing his inquisitive nature as he sniffed around the home’s lounge area.

Joseph, a Resident at Fieldway, loved spending time with Leo and hoped he would visit again soon.

He said: “What a lovely surprise!

“Next time we must get him some treats.”

Residents asked questions about him, curious about his age, breed and personality.

After his visit was over, Residents spent the afternoon reminiscing over their past family pets and debating the age old argument of cats vs dogs.

Leo’s visit was socially distanced to protect everyone and, of course, the little sausage dog himself, but he hopes to visit again when Residents will be able to play with him.

Fieldway Wellbeing Coordinator, Suzi Housego, said: “It was truly wonderful to see the Residents light up with excitement and joy.

“The smiles and laughs were infectious.”
