The Forthbank Mens Shed has kicked off with some upcyclingResidents at Forthbank, nursing and nursing dementia care home in Stirling have been keeping busy as the Residents take on some new projects in the ‘Mens Shed’.

The men at Forthbank have been very busy recycling items, fixing them up and repurposing them with a lick of paint.

The new ‘Mens Shed’ has enhanced the self esteem of some of the Residents as they have been putting so much effort into their crafts. They have been using the tools and working as a team to fix old pieces of furniture to make something new!

Colleagues have been on hand to help out if the Residents have needed it but they have been really great at learning how to use the tools.

The club has been running for a few weeks now and it has been a great hit.

One of the Residents who attends the club weekly, said, “I love coming to the club, it’s a chance for me to feel useful again and have some fun with the other Residents.”

Yvonne Graham, Care Home Manager, commented, “Forthbank is always a hive of busyness with lots of banter and laughter. It is lovely to see our male Residents have their own space and activity that is meaningful to them.”
