The Power of a PianistOne of the Residents at Chaseview care home in Romford, which provides residential, nursing, residential dementia, and nursing dementia care, has been entertaining and delighting fellow Residents with her beautiful piano playing.

Chaseview is honoured to have a fantastic pianist live with them at the care home. Mrs. Edna Flynn has toured all across the United States of America and can often be found in the lounge keeping her skills sharp by taking requests from Colleagues and Residents. Mrs. Flynn will often serenade everybody with her renditions of some of the greatest hits from Frank Sinatra and Doris Day, among others.

When Mrs. FLynn isn’t remixing some of the classic on the piano, she continues to display her musical talent as she challenges friends to dance offs and a sing along. Other Residents absolutely love spending the afternoon often listening to Mrs. Flynn and singing along with her, which often sparks conversations and brings back fond memories. Edna’s continued playing has been an absolute treat for everybody in the home.

One Colleague who spends a lot of time around Mrs. Flynn went on to say, “Its wonderful seeing the quieter Residents finding their voices and unlocking memories just by listening and singing along”. One Resident went on to say, “I remember running around the house and my mother used to always play this song”.

Bev, the Home Manager said, “Its so lovely hearing Mrs. Flynn playing the piano, the Residents really love it”.
